An Invercargill man who drunkenly attacked two people with a craft knife has been released from prison - due to equivalent remand time

Otago Daily Times' Open Justice reports 54 year old Marc Vincent Dykes was sentenced at the Invercargill District Court on Friday to two years in prison.

He pleaded guilty to charges of wounding with reckless disregard, assault and wilful damage.

He had already spent 14 months in custody, since December 28, 2022, so had effectively served the penalty.

Judge Thomas Ingram said he was sympathetic to Dyke's background and took that into account.
