Omahu School in the Hastings district lost everything in the cyclone.
The school community found a temporary home at nearby Irongate School while repairs were undertaken.
Ministry of Education Head of Property, Infrastructure and Digital, Sam Fowler, says the first stage of repairs at the school is complete -- and students return today, operating from the refurbished library.
Replacement classrooms are on track to be delivered for term 1 next year.
