Revelations a Petone overbridge is quake prone, and wouldn't survive a one in 20 year shake

Revelations a Petone overbridge is quake prone, and wouldn't survive a one in 20 year shake

The Cuba Street overbridge has an only 19 percent earthquake rating, sparking concern for the rail lines running beneath.

Hutt City Council's confirmed planning is currently underway into repairs, and says strengthening work could take several months.

The council maintains the bridge is strong enough for cars and heavy vehicles, but the asset is a top priority for maintenance.
