Kate Hudson found solace in sport after being evacuated due to the Los Angeles wildfires

The 'Fool's Gold' actress - who has Ryder, 21, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, Bingham, 13, with ex-fiance Matt Bellamy, and Rani, six, with fiance Danny Fujikawa - was forced to flee her home last month due to the deadly blazes, and she told how, amid all the uncertainty as to whether she would be able to return to the property of if it would be lost to the fires, she realised her "happy place" is tuning into regular sporting news bulletins

She told 'Extra': "I had like a real moment when we were evacuated, and I didn't know what was going on with our house and everything and I realised sports really is a comfort. It's, like, the one thing that is just always consistent... It's, like, my happy place like putting on ''SportsCenter'."

While Kate has returned home, her brother Wyatt Russell and his family, wife Meredith Hagner and sons Buddy, three, and 11-month-old Boone, haven't been so fortunate, so the 45-year-old star has thrown open her doors to them.

Meredith said in the joint interview: "My house is still under 'Do not drink.'"

Asked if she's been able to go back home yet, she added: "No, but Kate has been really generous. She has a very, very, very lovely house in Palm Desert... She's really open... She's put me up."

Kate previously revealed Danny stayed behind to help fight the fires when she evacuated their home with her children.

She shared an update on her Instagram Stories page alongside daughter Rani, which was captioned: "Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.

"Been a wild, life-changing couple of weeks for us in the Palisades and other affected areas. And so, we've been going through it. Long road ahead, but so grateful for all your love and kindness."

In the clip, Kate went on to reveal she returned to the area for the first time this week and their house was still standing - and she explained how Danny had stayed behind when the family evacuated.

She said: "Hey everybody I wanted to check in and just say thank you for all of your support and concern and prayers for us. We went back into the Palisades ...

"We're very lucky your house is still standing. We are in the center of a lot of our friends and people we love very much ... Whether they be home owners, store owners, people who work in our community they've lost their homes and their jobs so we are definitely trying to support our community as much as we can.

"[Thank you to] all the first responders in Los Angeles, the firemen, the pilots that are just incredible and all the neighbors - like Daddy and Uncle Michael - who stayed behind to put out spot fires.

"A lot of brave people fighting to protect us and we're so grateful. That's our check-in. Love you guys.(sic)"
