The 49er duo are five points clear at the top after notching three race wins on the opening two days of fleet racing off the coast of Marseille .
The "Two Macs" - as they're known - have succeeded three-time Olympic medallists Peter Burling and Blair Tuke in the class.
McKenzie says the America's Cup and Sail GP stars have been backing their cause since the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo.
Six 49er fleet races remain.
Racing resumes just after midnight tonight - with the top 10 advancing to Friday morning's medal race.
Other Kiwis sailors in action overnight tonight include windsurfers Josh Armit and Veerle ten Have and the 49er FX duo of Molly Meech and Jo Aleh .
