Customs has arrested a Christchurch man - accusing him of involvement in online child exploitation

US social media platforms alerted New Zealand authorities to objectionable videos, uploaded to social media apps.

Customs carried out a search at a Linwood address this morning.

The 42-year-old man faces five charges of exporting, distributing, and possessing objectionable publications.

He's appearing in the Christchurch District Court this afternoon - also charged with failing to provide access to a computer system.
