An Auckland murder trial's been called off the day it was scheduled to begin - with accused, Lorenzo Tangira, pleading guilty

He killed security guard Ramandeep Singh as he locked up the carpark to Massey's Royal Reserve in West Auckland - in December 2023.

Tangira attacked Singh after a night spent drinking at home, when he wandered to the nearby park with a teen - who's already been found unfit to stand trial.

Singh's jaw was broken in multiple places, with fractures to his skull, cheeks and orbital sockets.

Tangira will be sentenced next month.
