A State of Emergency has been declared in the Nelson-Tasman region

A State of Emergency has been declared in the Nelson-Tasman region

Mayor Tim King says this is a pre-emptive step, because of existing conditions in the region after severe weather - and predictions of more heavy rain.

He says it ensures swift responses to the weather.

A front's forecast to hit the region at 9am tomorrow - with the worst weather at midday.
