A 30-year-old man has been arrested in Dunedin accused of threatening police with a knife and biting an officer

Police were called last Friday to a report someone was interfering with vehicles on King Edward Street.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond says the man brandished a knife after being told he was under arrest.

He says he resisted a search and bit an officer under the armpit, sending them to hospital.

The man remains in custody and will appear in court tomorrow.
