Authorities say it could take up to 15 days to recover the tourist boat that ran aground near Akaroa

Authorities say it could take up to 15 days to recover the tourist boat that ran aground near Akaroa

None of the 38 passengers or three Black Cat Cruise crew was injured when it ran into trouble just over a week ago.

Phase one of recovery will remove the boat's superstructure and debris from Nikau Palm Valley Bay.

The next phase will focus on submerged debris, with timing dependent on the weather.

The Children's Bay boat ramp will be closed periodically.

Environment Canterbury's also reminding the public to respect the 200-metre exclusion zone around the vessel and recovery site.
