Thousands of Wellingtonians could be without power until Wednesday

Thousands of Wellingtonians could be without power until Wednesday

Severe gales, and torrential rain yesterday has caused trees and power lines across Wellington, Hutt Valley and Porirua to fall.

Almost five thousand homes across the region are without electricity.

Wellington Electricity says it's crews are battling rapidly changing conditions to try to restore power to local residents.

Wellington City Council is working on options to support those affected, and urges anyone who needs help to reach out to its contact centre.
