A Te Kuiti man's admitted to killing his 10-month-old son on the first day of his High Court trial in Hamilton

A Te Kuiti man's admitted to killing his 10-month-old son on the first day of his High Court trial in Hamilton

Mukzameel Mukhzar Ali was 22 when he killed his baby, Mustafa Ali, in June 2024 - with the infant dying from what Police described as non-accidental blunt force injuries.

The now 24-year-old was due to go on trial today defending a murder charge, and two assault charges against his partner.

He instead pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of manslaughter, assault with intent to injure and assaulting a person in a family relationship.

A sentencing date's yet to be set.
