    Power has been restored to more than a thousand customers across Wairoa and Tairawhiti -- as flooding subsides around a substation


    Severe weather overnight and today have triggered the release of a three-hundred thousand dollar Mayor Relief Fund.

    Emergency management and recovery Minister, Mark Mitchell says Hastings, Wairoa and Tairawhiti will get one-hundred-thousand-dollars each to quickly fill gaps.

    He says the funds will give a bit of money in the initial response - especially looking after those who have been displaced and have had to evacuate.

    A number of local states of emergency remain in place - with closures to a number roads.
