Concerns are mounting among senior figures at Auckland Council over delays in appointing an investment manager

Concerns are mounting among senior figures at Auckland Council over delays in appointing an investment manager for the city's 1.3 billion dollar Future Fund

It was established at the end of last year, with the money from the council's sale of its remaining stake in Auckland Airport.

The funds currently sit in secure term deposits and interest-earning bank accounts.

Councillor Chris Darby estimates the council has been missing out on a million dollars a day since June, by it not being diversified and invested in international equities markets.

A memo shows contract negotiations for an investment manager are ongoing.
