Two key flight paths of Sounds Air have touched down for the final time

Two key flight paths of Sounds Air have touched down for the final time

The regional airline's Blenheim to Christchurch and Christchurch to Wanaka services had their final flights on the weekend, due to financial pressures - despite having good passenger numbers.

Christchurch Airport's tower and terminal glowed orange in honour of the nine years Sounds Air helped connect the regions.

Marlborough Mayor Nadine Taylor says it's very sad regions are labelled the country's powerhouse, but are losing vital air links.

She's calling for the Government to invest more in regional connectivity to stop this happening.
