Pinehurst is proving tricky for the world's best golfers as they start their US Open campaigns

Pinehurst is proving tricky for the world's best golfers as they start their US Open campaigns

Patrick Cantlay has the lead after a five-under 65 - but few players have managed under par rounds including Kiwi Ryan Fox who is three-over and 107th.

Tiger Woods - who shot a four-over 74 - and finished second behind Michael Campbell at the course in 2005 says it's really demanding.

Rory McIlroy and Bryson Dechambeau are shaping as the pick of the afternoon golfers - three-under through 12.
