Cameron Smith is crediting the Queensland State of Origin rugby league team for helping steel him for his biggest career victory

The Australian golfer - not the former Maroons captain - has won the Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass, widely regarded as the most prestigious tournament outside the sport's four majors.

Smith says there's something about being from Queensland that inspired a mental edge in him.
