    Lydia Ko has been appointed a Dame in the New Year's Honours list for services to golf, coming off a year where she completed an Olympic trifecta of medals with gold in Paris


    She also entered the LPGA hall of fame.

    Rugby has also been prominent in the gongs.

    Former All Black coaches Ian Foster and John Hart were made Companions of the New Zealand Order of Merit, and the most-capped All Black Sam Whitelock was created an Officer.
