There's wide support for a higher speed limit on Auckland's Northern Gateway toll road

There's wide support for a higher speed limit on Auckland's Northern Gateway toll road

Motorists will be able to travel at 110 kilometres an hour on the stretch of State Highway 1 north of the city - from tomorrow.

NZTA consulted on the proposed speed for the modern motorway last year - with 93 percent of submissions supporting an increase.

Transport Minister Chris Bishop says 91 percent strongly support the change.

He says it's a safe, high quality road and most reasonable people understand it can be driven at 110.
