Customs and Police say they've dismantled part of an organised crime syndicate - believed to be smuggling large quantities of meth and cocaine through Auckland Airport

Customs and Police say they've dismantled part of an organised crime syndicate - believed to be smuggling large quantities of meth and cocaine through Auckland Airport

This week they've arrested the president and seven members of the 28 Brotherhood MC gang - bringing the total arrests since February to 43.

Customs investigations manager Dominic Adams alleges the syndicate would place unaccompanied baggage on inbound flights - for compromised baggage handlers to retrieve.

He says this technique was deployed across multiple global supply routes - including flights from Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Santiago, Honolulu, Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.
