Pakuranga College is paying tribute to two of its students caught in the Mount Maunganui landslide

Pakuranga College is paying tribute to two of its students caught in the Mount Maunganui landslide

15-year-olds Max Furse-Kee and Sharon Maccanico are among the six people unaccounted for after Thursday's slip.

The others are Rotorua grandmother Sue Knowles, Morrinsville school tutor Lisa Maclennan, 71-year-old Jacqualine Wheeler from Rotorua and 20-year-old Swedish tourist Måns Bernhardsson.

In a online post, the college says many people in its community are deeply impacted by the news and it is working to provide support.

Max's' aunty, Holly Lord, has posted to Facebook saying the past few days have been torture for their family and her heart is shattered.

Pakuranga MP Simeon Brown has also acknowledged the loss, saying the whole community is grieving.
