The ODT reports Police were attempting to detain a 32-year-old man at a Wynyard Street property this morning, when he grabbed the spray can.

Senior Sergeant Anthony Bond says two officers were sprayed - and one had an asthma attack.

The man was later arrested and will appear in court next week.
