Fears government-appointed commissioners could be called in if Wellington fails to pass its Long Term Plan this week

Fears government-appointed commissioners could be called in if Wellington fails to pass its Long Term Plan this week

It comes amid a fuss around the council's decision to sell its shares in Wellington Airport.

The airport proposal is set to be rubber stamped this week, but fall-out from the polarising vote threatens to de-rail the whole Long Term Plan, with some looking to vote against it.

Mayor Tory Whanau says while she believes she has the numbers to pass the plan, it's still a risk.

She says if it failed it would be devastating, and democracy would lose.
