A 52-year-old teacher appeared in the Wellington District Court this morning, charged with the murder of pensioner Helen Gregory

The 79-year-old was found dead at her Khandallah home just before midnight on January 24.

Police scoured a Porirua landfill last week for items believed to be discarded by a 'person of interest', just hours after Gregory's death.

The accused appeared in court with her head bowed and showed little emotion.
