It was a moment that had the viral potential to overshadow US President Donald Trump's nearly hour-long speech at the United Nations.
An escalator stopping right at the moment Mr Trump and wife Melania Trump stepped on.
This combined with a teleprompter supposedly breaking as Mr Trump was due to speak and French President Emmanuel Macron phoning the US president about a traffic complaint turned the United Nations (UN) summit into meme fodder.

Escalator stops as Trump steps on
Footage shows Ms Trump stepping on the escalator with Mr Trump following closely.
No sooner after US President set foot on the step, the escalator stopped.
After a moment of confusion, Mr and Ms Trump began walking up motionless escalator.
The video was widely shared on social media to many amused reactions, with Mr Trump making a joke about the incident in his speech.
"All I got from the United Nations was an escalator that on the way up stopped right in the middle," he said.
"If the first lady wasn't in great shape, she would've fallen.
"But she's in great shape. We're both in good shape, we both stood."
However, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt responded to the chatter in a more serious tone.
Ms Leavitt pointed to a report from UK newspaper The Times suggesting UN staff members would turn off the escalators "and tell him they ran out of money".
"If someone at the UN intentionally stopped the escalator as the President and First Lady were stepping on, they need to be fired and investigated immediately," she said on X.
UN says Trump videographer likely triggered escalator
UN spokesperson Stephane Dujarric said a readout of the escalator's central processing unit indicated it "had stopped after a built-in safety mechanism on the comb step was triggered at the top of the escalator".
He said Mr Trump's videographer had been travelling backwards up the escalator to capture his and Ms Trump's arrival.
"The videographer may have inadvertently triggered the safety function," Mr Dujarric said in a statement.
"The safety mechanism is designed to prevent people or objects accidentally being caught and stuck in or pulled into the gearing."
Trump says teleprompter was broken
Mr Trump began his speech by telling the summit the teleprompter wasn't working.
"I don't mind making the speech without a teleprompter, because the teleprompter is not working," he said.
"I feel very happy to be up here with you nevertheless, and that way you speak more from the heart.
"I can only say that whoever's operating this teleprompter is in big trouble."
He later said got a "bad teleprompter" as well as the "bad escalator" from the UN.
UN says its teleprompter was 'working perfectly'
However, a UN official said the White House had operated its own teleprompter.
And after Mr Trump finished speaking, UN General Assembly President Annalena Baerbock addressed the telepromter issue before introducing the next speaker.
"I would like to assure you that, don't worry, UN teleprompters are working perfectly," she said.
Macron's call to Trump
The night before the apparent technological mishaps, another viral moment was borne from the summit.
Mr Macron and his delegation were attempting to cross a street in New York on Monday night, local time, but was stopped by police because of Mr Trump's approaching motorcade.
The French president's exchange with a police officer was filmed and shared widely across social media.
"I'm sorry, Mr President, I'm really sorry," the officer told Mr Macron.
"It's just that everything's been frozen right now. There's a motorcade coming."
"If you don't see it, let me cross. I negotiate with you," Mr Macron joked before ringing his US counterpart.
"How are you?" he said with his phone to his ear.
"Guess what — I'm waiting in the street because everything is frozen for you," he told Mr Trump on the phone before trying to steer the conversation to a meeting about the situation in Gaza.
A French official confirmed to The Associated Press Mr Macron was, in fact, speaking to Mr Trump.
