Nicole Kidman, Baz Lurhmann open Vogue World in tribute to old Hollywood glamour

From a Nicole Kidman "revenge" dress to a dressing-gown tuxedo, these are all of the best Hollywood-style looks at this year's Vogue World event.

Australian actor Nicole Kidman has donned a Rita Hayworth-inspired Hollywood gown, stealing the show at this year's Vogue World event just weeks after filing for divorce from husband Keith Urban.

Kidman, alongside director Baz Luhrmann, opened and closed the fourth annual Vogue event at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles.

The fashion and culture event is part runway show, part concert, with a theme usually related to its location.

Previous years have seen actors, models and sports stars descend on cities like Paris, New York and London for Vogue World.

Last year's event in Paris, which was also the host city for the 2024 Olympics, saw fashion houses pair with a sport and an era to create athletic-inspired looks.

Here is what this year's event was all about.

    Merging fashion with Hollywood

The event was split into seven acts, each celebrating a different era of Hollywood.

For every act, a celebrated Hollywood costume designer would be in charge of the outfits, working with a fashion house's creative director.

The first act was entitled Hollywood Glamour, with Australian costume designer Catherine Martin in charge of the looks.

Models and celebrities strutted down the runway dressed in costumes paying homage to films like Moulin Rouge!, Breakfast at Tiffany's, and Gilda.

Nicole Kidman opened the show in a black gown much like the one worn by Rita Hayworth in the film Gilda, while taking direction from fellow Aussie and frequent collaborator, director Baz Luhrmann.

She was followed down the runway by Kendall Jenner in a sparkly dress and top hat, similar to the costume worn by Kidman in the film Moulin Rouge.

Other acts were titled Afrofuturism, Avant-Garde, Summer of Love, Historical Heroines and The Renegades.

Afrofuturism was designed by Black Panther's Oscar-winning costume designer, Ruth E Carter, working with Balmain, and featured costumes from Malcolm X and Black Panther.

For the Renegades section, films Edward Scissorhands, The Matrix, Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Royal Tenenbaums, and Desperately Seeking Susan were celebrated by costume designer Colleen Atwood.

Many more iconic costumes or recreations of them were featured throughout each act.

Men's fashion was also on show with Jeff Goldblum and Kyle MacLachlan proving there is far more out there than a classic tuxedo.

There were also performances by Gracie Abrams and Doja Cat.

    More looks off the runway

Much like a fashion week runway show, the outfits of actors, singers, socialites and sporting stars watching on were a spectacle of their own.

    Here's what they wore.
