Fresh fire crews are on deck in south Auckland to help people impacted by yesterday's tornado

Fresh fire crews are on deck in south Auckland to help people impacted by yesterday's tornado

One person at a Wiri container yard was killed, roofs were ripped off, trampolines went flying and fences were broken.

Four fire engines and one command unit remain in Papatoetoe.

Fire and Emergency shift manager Paul Radden says firefighters are making sure there are no power lines down and passing that on to electricity companies.

He says they're also putting tarpaulins on roofs that have lifted or leaked.
