An urge for those away this Waitangi Weekend, to stay safe on the roads

An urge for those away this Waitangi Weekend, to stay safe on the roads

New ACC data shows injury claims from road cycling, mountain biking, swimming and surfing, have all been down, compared to last year's summer.

Meanwhile, Police data shows 36 people have died on roads so far this year, compared to 38 last year.

Injury prevention lead James Whittaker, says people should slow down and enjoy the trip.

He says they do support people to recover from injury, but it's always better if they don't happen in the first place.
