Auckland's Onehunga community preparing to farewell Baby Anahera, whose body was discovered at a recycling plant four years ago

Auckland's Onehunga community preparing to farewell Baby Anahera, whose body was discovered at a recycling plant four years ago

Investigators were unable to find the infant's whanau or her cause of death, but she was named Anahera - meaning angel - by locals.

Her funeral is taking place at St Peters Anglican Church in Onehunga at 10am.

Local councillor Josephine Bartley says this is a continuation of the community taking the baby under their wing.

Bartley says the community wants to honour the fact the baby is not unclaimed, by giving her a beautiful farewell with dignity.
