    The Tongariro Crossing is closed with a rahui is in place following the death of a man yesterday


    Around midday, the man in his 50s collapsed while traversing the crossing. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful.

    The rahui means that the Tongariro Crossing is now closed until 6am on Wednesday morning.

    Police say the man's death has been referred to the Coroner.
