A Taranaki accountant who lost 300 thousand dollars in a scam has got a full refund

A Taranaki accountant who lost 300 thousand dollars in a scam has got a full refund

She'd transferred to what she thought was a one-year Kiwibank term deposit when she realised she'd been scammed - after noticing the recipient account belonged to ANZ.

ANZ immediately put a freeze on the account and two days later, the money successfully recovered.

The recipient account is allegedly controlled by Australian national Ayom Wek , who police claim has drained nearly two million dollars from five Kiwi scam victims in May this year.

He's charged with 34 counts of money laundering and there's warrants for his arrest.
