Kainga Ora must pay over 28-thousand dollars, to a retired Northland couple for failing to safely maintain their rental property

Kainga Ora must pay over 28-thousand dollars, to a retired Northland couple for failing to safely maintain their rental property

Beverly and Michael Lind, moved into a rental property in Hikurangi in early 2022 - unaware the garage was at risk of flooding.

A saga followed, where belongings were destroyed by rain, or later damaged or lost, when Kainga Ora contractors moved them without consent.

Beverly required shoulder surgery after driving her mobility scooter on the crumbling, and pot-holed driveway.

The Tenancy Tribunal says the couple suffered a nightmare at the hands of the state landlord.
