The Civil Aviation Authority's investigating after a light aircraft crashed into a house on the Coromandel Peninsula

The Civil Aviation Authority's investigating after a light aircraft crashed into a house on the Coromandel Peninsula

Emergency services were called to the scene in Pauanui just after 9am - St John says one person is in moderate condition, while another has minor injuries.

The home was unoccupied at the time of the crash.

Holidaymaker Amy Wiggins says the plane was trying to take off when it happened.

She says the front of the aircraft ended up in the front corner of the house - but it's been pulled away now.

The CAA says it will make enquiries over the coming days to discover what occurred and why.
