A brawl in Feilding on Saturday, led to a female police officer's safety being put in jeopardy

Officers responded to a report of a group of people fighting on the side of the road in the Manawatu town.

A single officer was first to respond and efforts to break the fight up were initially unsuccessful, until others could respond.

Two people were arrested and charged with assault - a 35-year-old woman and an 18-year-old woman are due to appear in the Palmerston North District Court on Thursday.
