Two people have been arrested after a police pursuit in Manawatu

Two people have been arrested after a police pursuit in Manawatu

Officers were alerted to a high risk offender in a stolen vehicle in Tangimoana this afternoon.

The person then stole another vehicle from a member of the public, who had a firearm pointed at them.

That person was not injured, but was shaken.

The vehicle didn't stop for police, and was spiked along State Highway 56, south of Palmerston North.

The driver and passenger were arrested at the scene.

Police say it was a serious, fast-paced incident, and acknowledge it was distressing for the community.
