    Two people have died in separate crashes on North Island roads overnight


    Police were called to a single-vehicle crash on Convent Road, Otaki in the Wellington region at around quarter past one when a car went off the road.

    One man died at the scene and two others were taken to hospital in moderate conditions.

    Around 4.30am police were called to a crash on Willowbank Road in Napier after a car crashed into a pole.

    The sole occupant died at the scene.
