It could be months before the full impacts of Nelson business closures start to show

Griffin's Snacks is proposing to close its local Proper Crisps factory, which would leave 65 jobless.

It's a month after the Eves Valley sawmill decided to shut its doors - resulting in the loss of 142 jobs.

Nelson Tasman Chamber of Commerce CEO, Ali Boswijk says it's unclear what the downstream effects of the job losses will be yet.

She says there's a direct impact on people employed, but also on the supply chain and other businesses that rely on the organisations.
