Concern violent cases involving mental health will continue to occur in New Zealand

Concern violent cases involving mental health will continue to occur in New Zealand

Lauren Dickason will serve three concurrent 18 year sentences for the killings of her three daughters in Timaru, in 2021.

She'll begin her sentence in a mental health facility and is eligible for parole in six years.

Psychologist Sara Chatwin says the case highlights how common mental health issues are.

She says there can be tragic consequences if we don't tap into those feelings and needs for people.
