The Government's praising Kiwi farmers victory against Mycoplasma bovis - a world-first milestone

The Government's praising Kiwi farmers victory against Mycoplasma bovis - a world-first milestone

Agriculture Minister Damien O'Connor has announced New Zealand is on track to be the first country in the world to eradicate the bacterial cattle disease.

O'Connor's revealed the last known infected property in Mid-Canterbury has been de-stocked and declared disease-free.

He says this is a remarkable achievement and has taken five years of hard work and sacrifice from the primary sector to achieve.

Although he's not ruling out a return of Mycoplasma bovis in the future, New Zealand's well place to deal with it -- should it return to our shores.
