    Kiwi sprinter Tiaan Whelpton hopes sponsorship of New Zealand's top emerging athletics talent will increase in 2023


    The first meet of the year - the Lovelock Classic - is underway in Timaru.

    Record holder Eddie Osei-Nketia's set to take up American Football after this season ends.

    Whelpton says they have to pay out of their own pockets to attend international competitions.



    Whelpton is in action in the men's 100 metres at twenty past two.
