High jumper Hamish Kerr has explained his new mental skills strategy after a pleasing start to Olympic year

High jumper Hamish Kerr has explained his new mental skills strategy after a pleasing start to Olympic year

Kerr's jumped 2.23 metres to win the Lovelock Classic and set a new stadium record at Aoraki Park in Timaru.

The 27-year-old failed to qualify for the final at last year's World Champs in Budapest.

Kerr says it's prompted a mental tweak, called step back, step up, step in.
