    A four year wait is nearly over for organisers of the ironman 70.3 world championships in Taupo


    The event was initially scheduled for 2020 only for it to be cancelled due to the COVID pandemic.

    A host of Kiwis are competing in the elite ranks including two-time Olympic medalist Hayden Wilde.

    He's excited to race in the town where he was born.



    The women's race is tomorrow with the men to follow on Sunday.
