A homicide investigation's begun into the death of a motorcyclist found in a Northland creek, yesterday morning

A homicide investigation's begun into the death of a motorcyclist found in a Northland creek, yesterday morning

His bike was found nearby, beside State Highway 15 between Maungatapere and Otaika, near Whangarei.

Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Shane Pilmer says they believe the man was killed between 7-and-11pm on Tuesday, in a layby opposite the entrance to the Otaika Valley Scenic Reserve.

Police are asking to hear from any witnesses travelling in the area on Tuesday night or early on Wednesday.

They're particularly interested in sightings of a blue and silver road bike - found parked in the layby.
