Worksafe says a motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after crashing into bungy ropes, suspended across a 100-k West Coast public road

Worksafe says a motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after crashing into bungy ropes, suspended across a 100-k West Coast public road

Sharemilkers Te Koru Wai Limited and farm owners Dairy Holdings Limited have been fined over 200 thousand dollars each plus reparations, over the 2021 incident in Maruia Valley.

The ropes were strung to relocate 800 cows, but the lack of signage meant the victim was unable to stop safely causing rip fractures and a right kidney laceration.

A Worksafe investigation found the ropes had been up for three hours.
