Police say the 25-year-old hit the side of a vehicle at a speed.
Senior Constable Graham Perkins says investigations continue - and although he can't yet confirm it, the deceased appears to have been in the wrong.
Perkins is reminding motorists to maintain focus - and remember who has the right of way.
