The Queenstown Lakes District mayor is happy to be waving goodbye to 2020

The Queenstown Lakes District mayor is happy to be waving goodbye to 2020

The region has had a challenging year with no foreign visitors since March, when the country closed its borders to keep out Covid-19.

However district mayor Jim Boult is looking forward to seeing plenty of Kiwis bring in the new year on the town's water front.

He says it will be the resort's usual high intensity celebration.

But Jim Boult says he will be pleased to see the back of 2020 and is looking forward to a much better 2021.
