Auckland's Mayor says there's a need to increase infrastructure, as the number of new homes increases

Auckland's Mayor says there's a need to increase infrastructure, as the number of new homes increases

Stats NZ data shows more than 16 thousand new dwellings were given consents in the city - out of the 39,420 given nationwide by the end of December 2020.

Mayor Phil Goff says the growing number of housing builds places huge pressure on the councils infrastructure planning.

He says this means planning for more roads, public transport and community facilities.
