    Wellington Mayor Tory Whanau disagrees with the local Labour Party for its opposition to selling the council's airport shares


    Labour believes it's short-sighted to sell the asset -- with funds used to create a 'green investment fund' that would cover costs of a major disaster.

    The council agreed to include selling its 34-percent stake in the airport during draft Long Term Plan deliberations.

    Whanau says its important we make sure the city is financially prepared for future disasters in a world where there's more risk due to climate change.
