The mayoral relief fund for Horowhenua has been activated, after wild wind struck the region

The mayoral relief fund for Horowhenua has been activated, after wild wind struck the region

Mayor Bernie Wanden says it took a few days to assess the damage, particularly in rural areas.

He says the council had some funds left over from tornados in the area in recent years.

Wanden says the latest event has been tough - with the main issues being damage from wind, and days-long power outages.
