Predictions the latest GDP data will prompt earlier lifts in the Official Cash Rate than anticipated

Predictions the latest GDP data will prompt earlier lifts in the Official Cash Rate than anticipated

GDP rose one point six per cent in the March quarter.

America's Federal Reserve has also indicated it will raise interest rates earlier, in line with expectations inflation will rise this year.

KiwiBank chief economist Jarrod Kerr says they're predicting three rate rises next year - from May.

He says that's not priced in yet, but he thinks we'll see interest rate markets start to price that in now we're getting positive economic momentum.

Meanwhile ANZ is predicting the OCR will start rising in February.
